About HerGrowth
Three women.
One mission.
HerGrowth was founded by three women who grew up without access to education. Today, they are committed to making sure no child shares that experience.
Our Mission
Fund classrooms. Change futures.
HerGrowth identifies underfunded schools in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East and connects them with educational grants that cover infrastructure, learning materials, teacher development, and school technology.
Our Vision
A world where every child is educated.
We envision a future where the quality of a child's education is not determined by their parents' income, their country's wealth, or the neighbourhood they were born into.
Our Values
What guides us.
Compassion
We see the human being behind every application. Every school we fund has a story — and we honour it.
Transparency
We publish how our grants are allocated and hold ourselves accountable to our donors and beneficiaries alike.
Equity
We actively seek out the schools most overlooked by other funders — in rural areas, conflict zones, and underserved communities.
Leadership
Meet the founders.
Amira Hassan
Co-Founder & Executive Director
Born in Cairo and raised across the Middle East, Amira spent her childhood watching other children attend school while she stayed home. That injustice became her life's work. She leads HerGrowth's strategy and partnerships.
Sophia Belmar
Co-Founder & Head of Programmes
From Trinidad and Tobago, Sophia grew up understanding the deep connection between education and opportunity. She designs HerGrowth's grant evaluation process and beneficiary support systems.
Layla Al-Amin
Co-Founder & Head of Operations
Originally from Beirut, Layla brings over a decade of NGO management experience. She oversees fund disbursement, school vetting, and the day-to-day operations that make the mission possible.
